Last month, nearly 4 billion people experienced an entire extra month of extreme heat. Across the US, nights are staying warmer. And this is making it harder to sleep, recover, or afford cooling costs.
This affects more than comfort. It affects health, productivity, and safety, esp: for older adults, young children, and outdoor workers.
But solutions exist. And many are simple, local, and proven to work:
✅ Use blackout curtains, window films, or reflective blinds to keep rooms cooler.
✅ Freeze water bottles and place them behind fans for quick DIY cooling.
✅ Check on neighbors and build a shared cooling plan for your block or building.
✅ Ask schools and cities about shaded spaces, cool roofing, or green bus stops.
These are not just “green” ideas. They’re common sense upgrades that protect lives, reduce health risks, and lower monthly costs.
When we design for care, not just carbon, we build trust.
And when people feel supported, they show up. They contribute. They stay.
That’s why I’m bringing people together on September 19 at the Emerald Climate Fintech Summit in New York, alongside Nicole Casperson.
Not just to talk about climate, but to fund the real systems that protect people.
Especially ones that work for families and frontline workers.
Because solutions aren’t just possible.
They’re already here, and ready to scale.
