In the late 80s, the computer science degree was first offered in India. I was one of the first women to enroll. In the early 90s, the next town was one of the first to offer an all-female school. I was one of the first women to travel to seek out higher education.
In the 80s and 90s, the unwritten rule in India was: “it is a waste of time and money to educate women.” I was one of the first women in the community to emigrate to the US. You could call me a “risk-taker.”
After a 20 year career on Wall Street, managing risk for clients, I have hung out my own shingle. I have a daughter. I’m teaching her to be a risk taker too.
