Storms Are Getting Louder. We’re Not Listening.

Texas is underwater—and we’re still debating whether climate change is “real.”

100+ lives lost. 30 of them children. $22 billion in damage. And this isn’t a fluke. It’s the future showing up early.

The science has been screaming for decades:

Warmer air holds more moisture → Heavier downpours → Less time to prepare → More destruction.

In Texas, rivers rose 20+ feet in under an hour. Flash floods left families with minutes—not hours—to evacuate. Entire communities were wiped out.

This isn’t a “once-in-a-century” storm anymore.

It’s the new normal.

But here’s what’s worse:

The National Weather Service is understaffed. Our forecasting tools are outdated. And we’re cutting funding to our climate defenses.

Climate change isn’t a theory. It’s physics. It’s data. It’s happening—right now, right here.

So the question isn’t if another disaster will hit.

It’s whether we’ll be ready. Scientifically. Systemically. Together.

I’ve spent decades working at the intersection of finance, tech, and climate—and I can tell you this: no one is coming to save us unless we build the systems to save ourselves.

That’s why I’m joining forces with Fintech Is Femme for the Emerald Climate Fintech Summit this September in NYC—spotlighting the leaders building real resilience into financial systems and unlocking the capital that actually changes lives.

Because this isn’t about politics. It is about physics, data, and the human cost of inaction. Let’s act before the next headline.
